New Mandela Day Library for school in Morgenzon, Mpumalanga
There was much excitement when the children of Sizakhele Primary School in Morgenzon, Mpumalanga, entered their school’s brand-new library delivered through the Mandela Day Library project.
The Mandela Day Library Project is the primary Mandela Day project for South African non-profit organisation Participate for Good, which operates a fully automated system for gathering funds for the school library campaign.
Sizakhele Primary School serves 1 400 children who live in a deeply rural area. Grade 4 learners read to the people who attended the library’s launch, with confidence.
Representatives from insulation services supplier Kaefer, a long-standing partner of the Mandela Day Library project, attended the launch of yet another library sponsored by their firm.
The launch was also attended by members of the school governing body, the school’s principal and deputy principal and a very excited librarian, Lucia Mabida, who recently finished a diploma in library operations in anticipation of receiving the library.
